They've written catchy crap in the past, but something about Blues
Traveler's always felt kinda soulless, and that something is slathered all
over Bridge.
With its poppy bounce and John Popper's mile-a-minute babbling, "Just for
Me" rewrites their 1994 hit,"Hook," only with less charm. "Rage" doesn't
rage at much as it drags ass through the same lazy gutters the band has
always walked in.
The faux-funk organ riffs and wiggly melodies might keep the toke-happy
summer-festival crowd grooving, but it puts us to sleep. --D.P.
